landmark: A notable location, such as a hospital or a place of historic note. Landmarks are usually indicated on a map.
legend: Information on a map that tells the user what the meaning of different on a map.
latitude: Used with longitude to determine location. It is measured in degrees away from the equator. These imaginary lines run north to south.
longitude: Used with latitude to determine location. It is measured in degrees away from the Prime Meridian. Longitude lines run east-west.
map scale: See scale.
nautical charts: A type of map that shows information about bodies of water such as the location of buoys, reefs, jetties and islands.
orientation: The relationship between two points. It is usually determined using the north, south, east and west directions. Example: Point A is North of Point B
orthophoto: An aerial photo that has been corrected to remove natural distortions.
